"No one wants war, but some things are worse ...

... C.S. Lewis stated that submission to a lower religion or even a lower secular society is much worse. J.S. What have you been reading? . . . Anyway, I love C.S. Lewis. The whole question, though, is what is worse than war? Is Saddam Hussein worse than war? Probably so for the Iraquis (sp?), but for us?? Where do you draw the line? If we went off and displaced every dictator, we'd never finish. I know your quote isn't about any particular war, but it's a question I keep coming back to all the time, with lots of different people. . . . And now with you. :-)

That was from a letter to the editor in the NCR. Mom pointed it out to Liz and myself. I thought it was beautiful. I understand what you're saying/questioning as far as where to draw the line ... but that entails way too much thinking for me. ;) No really, I'd have to look and research more into the whole thing before I could feel like I could even begin to draw conclusions or answers.

You're right, though, that my entry isn't about any particular war, it addresses, more than anything, that people now consider war of any kind to be bad and not worthwhile. Do people feel that there is really nothing worth fighting for??

I pity people who see nothing in their lives worth protecting to the point of war.
