Mon dieu, ceci était étonnant! (excellent,envoutant...)

Your Franglish is EXCELLENT! I am very impressed! I am however, switching to English, as you are not the only one sweating ( ... )

Oh, and I understand many dialects of British English too!

Phew, ne peux parler/ecrire plus.

Yeah, I can only do slow, written down or both, these days. I've retained some written ability, but my vocab is in the toilet these days and I know I made a zillion accent misplacements and tense mistakes above, and I just can't converse any more (although my accent is still good, which just encourages people to launch into an only marginally comprehensible torrent of French).

My Mandarin is only marginally better than my French (and unlike French I can't write it any more!). I can order from restaurants/swear in a couple of Chinese dialects and Malay. I wish I could read Latin, because it sounds so beautiful and cultured, but sadly I only know legal terminology therein ;) I make up for effective monolingualism by deploying English in a terminally British accent, naturally.

You sound like you have a great ear - Mandarin is very difficult to understand, and I had real problems with it at school - so if you can even marginally get the pinyin it is most impressive!
