Sweetie, this last part was GOOD exposition: natural, unforced conversation, very believable, no omiscient barfing narrators or anything. Well done.

Am snickering at Cook trying to be charming in his ratty T-shirt, and David's Abuela giving Cook crap about his facial hair!!!

And, gosh, I am falling more and more for your Johns - helping David re-work Imagine, trying unobtrusively to kick Cook on the back of his foot; and this exchange with Marita:

“And you,” she said shaking her finger at Johns, “you are a wild boy, this I can see. You will put away any wildness around Neito. Yes?”

Thoroughly cowed, Johns simply nodded.

You know, that was actually the third time I wrote 15? I scrapped try #1 completely, and then wrote #2 and hated it... fake, forced, non-physical, and oh God, like pulling teeth.

Then today I took the laptop to this new library (awesome!) and sat down for 5 hours reworking, clearing, elaborating, until I thought it was close to acceptable.

It's really just a filler chapter, but it was hard because I felt I had to get Yamaya and Marita right in this chapter or else I'd be fucked for the rest of the story. Also, I am setting up a couple of arcs, so that had to be as subtle as possible and done reasonably right.

I'm very happy that you liked it and didn't feel barfed on! Thank you!!!

I am expecting 16 to be much more fun to write... Diving! Squeeee! I am excited to write that!

I am so glad this chapter was okay, and that you liked Marita telling Cook to clean up his facial hair issues, haha. That was a last minute addition, and I like Marita and Johns a lot too.

Very tough chapter to write, maybe it was 'cause RL was weird this last week. Lots of good stuff, but sometimes that can be just as discombobulating as the bad stuff.

And as for the dedications to, you and Jay and Night, I just purely love you and count you as real friends, even though we are far apart spatially, I feel very close to you in my heart.
