Well, the lovely Jehane gave me a challenging concept with this one. What exactly is the appeal of cross-gen fics, when the actual real concept has absolutely no appeal to me in real life? I mean, I have sons the age of some of the characters I ship. I have sons older then some of the characters I ship!

I asked you this because I personally don't get to the cross-gen, and it interested me.

I do see the protective, strong and caring dynamic, and it is hella hot, but my ships are more of the equal-partner variety: K/S, Jim/Leonard, Apollo/Starbuck (vintage), Angel/Spike. In X-Men, for instance, my ship is Logan/Ororo. I like the bad boy redemption vibe a lot - I love Rickman and Severus, for instance, but I am squicked out re shipping him with Harry! The Potter I would ship him with is James.

I am trying to turn the protective cross-gen dynamic on its head in AIRN. Is it working?
