I love you, but that was total exaggeration. Lovely. Welcome. But just not true. However, I am REALLY happy you liked it:-)
I spent hours looking at every scrap I could get on David with his mom and dad, and well, Jeff just gives me a squirmy feeling of unease. It's the mustache I bet. Nonetheless, there you go, that's just the way he came out. I guess you write what you know, and I know men like that too well.
In my story, Jeff IS the "Walking Mouthpiece For Dead-White-Guys-In-The-Sky". And Marita, Lupe, and Yamaya embody the Triple Goddess of the Planet (Crone, Mother, Maiden).
Poor David is firmly in the middle of this epic timeless struggle.
It may be that I have read too much Sherri Tepper??? Yeah, probably.
I have a feeling that I am going to have to slap warnings on these chapters soon, lest I religiously offend someone.
To cheer you up, Cookie is about to enter, stage left.
Just look at that beautiful boy, with his limpid, transparent eyes. HEART. (No wonder Cookie couldn't -can't!- keep his hands off him.)
Am loving this build-up, bb. Your David is such a sweetheart; I love the special {bracks}s you give him, when he's singing his siren song - should have totally noticed this before...
And, I second Clio on the originality. I am such a sucker for the many faces of the Triple Goddess (Fates/Furies/um, is there one more?), and they haven't been visited on the Cookleta community, until you came along!
...and waiting for David Cook to come onstage, like a hero of the ancient world...
Actually, there are at least hundreds more... of course sometimes they are hidden in their newer aspects as saints, demons, witches, nymphs, wives-of-fill-in-the-blank, etc, etc
( ... )
Poor you, sweetie, insomnia is horrid - but at least it seems to have fuelled this burst of creativity! Hot camomile tea, that's the ticket.
Absolutely fascinating, the many faces of the Triple Goddess. I only remembered the Greco-Roman ones (from Sandman and SF, hee; also, heart Sheri S Tepper!), but I am of course familiar with the Norns and the Morrigan, now you mention them. How cool is it that the Mother-Maiden-Crone trope finds its way across all cultures!
(And, hey, sounds like you finally figured out where I am! Cute how you subtly worked it into your long reply, even though you're loopy from lack of sleep, rather than coming out with it all stalker-like;))
When you have nonfic time, I would love to interview you - then you can witter away to your heart's content ;)

This is the most original, most clever Cookleta story I've ever read!!!
\o/
I was giggling right along with Archie when his gills disappeared! So much love for the way you have his character down! ♥!
But the ending leaves me worried...
Jeff thought that this time he wasn’t going to let anything stand in David’s way.
Not even David.
*wibbles*
Update soon, please? :D
