*Okay, that's a lot of information to take in, and more than a little of it sounds fairly relevant, but the main one is--* Alternia? Then you are a troll? *And not one of the ones she knows. Well, given the rest of the message, that was obvious.
Her voice sounds eerily familiar though. Kanaya can't quite place it.*
And furthermore, you are actually interested in the quality of your appearance?
Memory tells me that yes, I am a troll but my current appearance seems to suggest otherwise. I am unsure of what I am exactly and what caused this change in me. [there is a small laugh] Yes, it's rather odd to be a troll and concerned about appearances, isn't it?
Oh, um, that's actually normal. Well, one would be exceptionally hard-pressed to describe it as normal in the common sense which ordinarily precludes awaking in wholly alien hiveclusters on worlds which ought to be naught but cosmic rubble, to be fair, but it is normal given the circumstances. That is to say, all of us trolls have initially appeared here in the form of humans.
And in case that were not clear, the creatures that look similar to us but lacking horns, gray skin and a host of other external features are called humans.
But relevant discussion tangent aside, I will confess that it is extremely odd to encounter another troll who concerns themselves with matters aesthetic and fashionable. Insofar as it hasn't happened yet in all of my six sweeps. I feel as though I ought to be celebrating something.
Humans. [she tries the word out for herself] Is there a clear reasoning behind why we have been turned into humans and brought to this new place? For all purposes I should be dead, not a different species. Although I guess I am lucky to have been saved. It is odd not having horns or grey skin. This body seems rather weak and easily damaged. [To test it she digs her nails into the palm of her hand] Yes, very weak, but that isn't the most curious thing. My blood color is... how can this be. [she's quiet for a moment as she studies her new blood] Is any of this body my own? My hair seems to be the same, as well as my general shape but other than that it seems entirely different.
Only six sweeps, you are young then. I am more than double that and I can assure you that in all my time alive I have never met a being who was as interested in appearances as I.
[Doc Scratch is out as usual during this time of day, wearing that all white get-up like always. When Dolorosa comes walking by, he can't help but have his eyes drawn to her. This woman...He knows her. She is a figure of an ancient past. He is certain...
So he'll just keep staring, waiting. She'll have to look back to him eventually, given the look he gives her.]
[It's hard not to notice him staring at her! She glances between him and what she's wearing. Because that must be why he's looking at her. If she were troll-looking in this town full of... pinkish people then sure he could stare all she wants. It must be the clothes.] Have I put something on incorrectly?
[She stares hard at him. If he were a troll turned human would she be able to recognize him? She studies his features but it rings no bells whatsoever.] Even with my current appearance you have been able to deduce who I am? That is quite skillful, unfortunately I don't know who you are.
[He generally doesn't pay too much attention to the flood of newcomers making bewildered comments, but there are a few terms used in that statement he can't ignore.]
[He should be glad that Mayfield is apparently now reaching into their dead species for new members. It will help them rebuild.
But in a display of complete selfishness that disgusts him, he doesn't want other trolls here. The eleven of them trust Karkat and for the most part, he trusts them. He's gotten used to not worrying about being culled for the sake of his status or what will happen if he's careless about his blood. He's gotten used to not being treated like he's less than everyone else.
But he's the leader of their species, even if she probably would never accept that, and even if he feels more loyalty to humans than he does to trolls besides his eleven.]
Wow, fuck, okay. I'm Karkat. There are twelve of us here already. I have a list that explains how things work around here, although it may be a little specific to the assholes I know.
[She smiles warmly into the phone, a sense of familiarity washing over her. He sounded too young to be Signless, but he sounded like him nonetheless.]
I go by Dolorosa, it's comforting to know that there are other trolls here. I wonder if I would recognize them in these bodies. Any information you have would be appreciated, I know very little at this point. [she hesitates for a moment] You sound like someone I am close with.
[Cue a rather confused pause - he's pretty sure all twelve of them already made it to this town, so unless someone got panscrubbed and he didn't notice (highly likely) or he somehow managed to forget one of their members (also highly likely), he's not quite sure how another troll has joined them when they're all supposed to be dead.
Oh well, he'll just put it down to miracles and leave it at that.]
I thought all us grayest of motherfuckers already done kicked their bad selves on here. Who are you all being, sister?

Not at all, ma'am. I only gathered the feeling that I know who you are. By which I mean I do know.

Yeah, I'm Gamzee! Shit, this is a real exciting miracle - I didn't think we'd be seeing any other trolls except us around again.
