assertiveness versus aggression

i am at a place in my life currently where i am learning yet another painful lesson about the necessity of assertiveness in life. about opening my mouth and asking questions, about asking questions about other questions i do not even know how to ask, or what i am even trying to ask or talk about. this place is very uncomfortable for me. it has been ( Read more... )

I've found in my personal experience that when I have to be assertive just the threat coming from me has more impact then anything else. Because I'm fairly passive and mellow people try to walk over me. Just taking a certain tone puts them back in their place.

Its a control issue it sounds like. Feeling so helpless (which is just a natural part of life). Being assertive doesn't make you a bad person, but all you can't let yourself feel helpless AND be afraid to show a little bark. All it'll do is create some nice lovely cognitive dissonance and you'll blow your mind.

Go bite a few heads off, you'll feel better.
