[The peace and quiet of the day are broken by a sudden sharp canine yelping from within 916 Bilko Boulevard. A moment later, there's the rattling and slamming of a doggy door, and a large, wolf-like white dog races out into the neighborhood, furiously shaking water and suds off her snowy fur. She races along for a minute, desperate to put distance

[There's another white wolf running around town, and she's noticed her! And she can tell that she's sad, so she trots up to her, wagging her tail to be reassuring.]

[Amaterasu lifts her head curiously, then lets it droop again. She can't seem to find her inventory, so she doesn't have any food for this animal. She hates not being able to offer food to animals.]

[Aisling comes closer and sits down. She tilts her head and whines a little.]

[Ammy looks up again and pauses this time. Is this not an ordinary wolf? No, surely she'd know if this was a being like her. Except--she can't tell, anymore.

She gives a little arf of confused dismay.]

[oh dear. The Empress moves towards the wolf; though wolves generally tend to freak her out, this one seems... well, depressed.

She kneels next to it, reaching out slowly] Are you okay...?

[mothersandsuns]

[A person! And this one is moving, acting, and talking like...well, a human being. Not whatever those disturbing children were. Amaterasu sniffs hopefully at the offered hand, then sits up and wags her tail a little. She's fine!

...she's just--really confused. She deflates a little and looks bemusedly from side to side, then back at the Empress with a querying tilt of her head.]

[she shies away out of reflex and hesitates before petting Amaterasu gently]

Oh, did you just arrive? Poor thing. [She looks sympathetic] This place is called Mayfield--we're all sort of trapped here I'm afraid.

[mothersandsuns]

[Ammy rolls her eyes up to peer at the hand petting her, then does the natural thing: she slobbers on it. Only she stops at the question and gives an affirmative-sounding whine.

The name given makes her roll back onto her haunches in puzzlement. May...field? It doesn't sound like a proper name for a place. And she doesn't much like the idea of being trapped, either.]

[Doggy! Koishi approaches poor, shivering Ammy, crouching down in front of her when she's close enough.]

Hey there. Are you okay?

[mothersandsuns]

...rooo?

[Amaterasu looks up cautiously. Is this one a real child? Not going to try to give her a bath while smiling vacantly?]

[WELL Koishi can't hear the thoughts of animals anymore but she can definitely tell that was kind of a confused noise right there.]

You're all wet, and shivering. If you come with me, I can help you dry off!

[mothersandsuns]

[Ammy wags her tail hopefully as she considers this proposal, then gets up from her slump and stands at Koishi's side, wagging her tail. Dry is good! It might even mean some food. Food is better!]

[oh gosh, what a cute doggy.....however, just as she thinks about giving Amaterasu a pet, the frog on her head gives a warning croak. So she doesn't.]

Looks like someone tried to give you a bath, pooch.

[Ammy lifts her head a little, then a little more in curiosity at the frog. It's almost like it's acting...like some sort of Poncle.

But there's no time for worrying about that! This girl is offering her sympathy. Over the horrible, horrible bath. Ammy makes a mournful keening noise in agreement.]

[The frog meets Amaterasu's stare with creepy, swamp-yellow eyes, and continues to watch her even when the wolf diverts her attention.]

Don't like 'em, huh? Hmm....maybe a treat will make you feel better?

[Honestly, Ammy kind of wants to slobber on the frog. See how it likes being creeped on. But the girl is offering her a treat, and that takes precedence. She perks up and lolls her tongue out in a hopeful, panting grin. Food!]

[Despite being exactly like a cat, Joshua's actually quite the dog person. And while Ammy doesn't bear much resemblance to Hachiko, there's something about a depressed looking canine that causes him to drift over to her and crouch down. That, and he's pretty sure that drones don't own wolves.]

Hey, there. If you're waiting for your master to show up, I'm afraid it might take quite a while.

[Too bad for Joshua he said exactly the wrong thing. Amaterasu perks up from her woeful position--but only to bristle indignantly at the human crouched next to her. She makes a brief rrrr noise like a hmph, then shakes some more water off as close as she can get to his face.

Her having a master! Imagine that!]

[He huffs, wiping water off his face and his hair, and right, now he remembers the downside to dogs.]

All right, I get it, you're a free wolf. Can't blame me for wondering - most of the animals here have owners. Just arrived then, have you, or did you regain some sort of shapeshifting power?

[mothersandsuns]

[Regain some sort of shapeshifting power? Like the Oina? No, that's not her. More to the point: regain? Does that mean she can get her abilities back? That's a comforting thought.

In answer, though, she whines and paws the ground in confusion. This place is totally new to her.]
