[There's not a whole lot one god without her powers can do in this situation. But Okami Amaterasu is not the type to sit back and wait for other people to defend the innocent--and she's sure that at least some of the people trapped in this town count as the innocent. She decides that it's on her to do what she can do ( Read more... )

[There's a familiar wolf running around, trying to avoid the hazmats.]

[Amaterasu stops as she catches sight of Aisling, sets down the radio, and issues a worried bark in her direction. You should be inside!]

[Aisling looks around nervously, and gives out a worries whimper. She's only scouting out the area to see how many hazmats there are, and she knows she should be inside, but she's still scared.]

[Ammy leans over to nuzzle Aisling reassuringly--a nuzzle that turns into a gentle but stern headbutt. Don't let the fear get to you! She's here to watch out for you, and everything will be better soon.]

[He's walking around town as well - Joshua's never been the type to lock himself away inside out of fear. He pauses when he sees Ammy, tilting his head.]

It's not exactly safe for a dog or a god to be walking around out here right now, you know. [Pause.] Of course, it's not like I'm in any position to tell you to do otherwise.

[Ammy answers that with a disdainful bark. They told her not to walk around when it was dangerous in Nippon, too, but she'd never have restored the place if she hadn't!

To bark, though, she has to set down the radio, which she now nudges curiously at Joshua. Does he have any ideas where to look for the source of the song?]

[He glances down at the radio.]

Are you looking for the crying girl? I don't think you're going to find her in this town - that was a Russian song.

[His face closes off for a moment.]

Besides, if what we heard at the end of that broadcast was what I think it was, the entire place's probably been completely destroyed. I doubt there's anyone there who's still alive.

[Russian? Ammy still doesn't understand what that means. She's been listening to the phones as best she can, and all she can tell is that it has something to do with being Communist or not-Communist, and she doesn't understand what that means, either. They're all human. How can something like that matter enough to cause this much panic?

She looks worried at the rest of what Joshua says, though. Especially at that look on his face...she whines uncertainly. She can't just not do anything.]

[A group of hazmats is standing nearby Ammy, watching her in eerie silence.]

[It doesn't take her long to notice them. She stops, sets the radio down, and cocks her head to study them. Are these the "men in gray" that people on the phones have been talking about?

She growls low in her throat, softly. If they are, they've been causing panic and fear. But she can't just go around attacking them--not without any of her powers. So she needs to find out more about their source.

That decided, Ammy trots up to the hazmats, settles back on her haunches just a few feet away, and waits expectantly with a hopeful, friendly expression. Everyone likes to confess their feelings to a nice doggy, right? Even imps have done it! Now it's your turn!]

[The hazmat men pause in their steps briefly, looking directly at the dog. They don't seem to perceive her as a threat, so they move as if to shuffle away again...]

[Excuse me! People don't just ignore a god, you know. Nothing gets solved that way! Slightly indignant, Amaterasu gets up again, trots around to plant herself squarely in the hazmat men's path, and barks. Tell Mama Ammy about your feelings, and that's an order!]

[ Actually, it's "girl," but Ammy has never been bothered by that. Silly humans and their silly genders--it doesn't affect her. She sets the radio down and barks an affirmative. She's looking for the source of all this creepiness so she can take it down and restore the town to its proper state of life! That's how things work with her. Although it might be a bit more difficult without any of her powers at all. ]

[ He's the second person to tell her that, and Ammy whines in dismay at the confirmation. She perks up a little at the information she gets with it, though, and gives a thoughtful little aroo. Barriers? She hadn't heard about those. If there are barriers, maybe she can eventually get her powers back and knock them down. ]
