012; you won't have to fail

Nov 08, 2009 02:32

So, I didn't get the job at that bar. Which is, in all honesty, a little bit worrying, so many bills.

The man doing the interview said I was a little too shy to work there. And he said that was a shame because I seemed to be reliable etc.

Um, this might be a bit of a strange question but how does one, I don't know, come out of their shell?

Practice talking to people, no matter who they are, helps you get a bit more confident.

Even flirt with the ones you think are cute.

Unless they gravely dislike you.

I'm not sure about that...

They're just random people you'll never see again. You can flirt or talk or give them little winks and they'll respond with something. You can carry the conversation on from there.

But then I wouldn't be being myself.

Would that be alright with you?

Um, I'm afraid I don't have much in the way of previous work experience, because I never made it into the office that often due to various catastrophes in the complex and so my old boss isn't giving particularly brilliant references.

Oh, er, then I'd be happy to work for you!

Why are you so good to me? I'm sure there are many other people who would benefit from that job more than me.

Literally or figuratively?

Figuratively. I don't actually have a literal shell.

I doubt it's unheard of. Though...I haven't, but things have changed so much.

Perhaps participating in some group activities here would help. When's the next festival?

I know tortoises have shells.

I do not think they have festivals here like the ones you are talking about.

I've been forcing myself to talk to people-though, it hasn't always worked out for the best.

A few do not take kindly to you? I know how you feel.

Essentially. Or I messed up my approach.

It's so much easier with children!

First impressions tend to be key.

Children have less reasons to dislike strangers.

Given who your kin are, it's no surprise that you're having problems with confidence. I mean lets face it, Paris was hardly a brave man.

If you really want to come out of your shell? Don't be second rate, which I know is difficult for a Trojan, be the best.

Hector was.

That is a little difficult when people treat you like you are second best.

He wasn't so brave when he dropped down to his knees and begged me to spare his corpse. Too bad he was such a fool and mistook Patroclus for I, if he hadn't I would have pitied him.

Then you need to show them that you're not.

Perhaps if you had kept your lover on a tighter leash, he would not have ended up dead at my husband's blade.

I shall.
