If you're directly addressing a person - saying their name to get their attention - the name would change. If you're talking about them, it wouldn't.
So in your example, if you were introducing Calum to James, you might say "A Sheumais, seo Calum Grannd" "James, this is Calum Grant." because you're talking to James, about Calum. Or the reverse: "A Chaluim, seo Seumas Friseal." Calum, this is James Fraser."
Yes!!! I'm definately enjoying this! Within 5 minutes I got two responses from two different communities to my question. :o) These communities are going to help me so much. I do understand now, thank you! Because I'm not talking to Calum, nothing changes.
