Apple had their yearly WWDC Keynote speech this past Monday, and they made a bunch of announcements: New iPhone hardware, new iPhone software, new laptops, new OS X version, new Quicktime version, etc. There's a lot that's new and updated and shiny. Apple has become too popular. Their attempt to be chic garnered too much attention, now their marketing analysts are saying they're going to loose market share if keep to their core values. I doubt they really even consider them core values anymore really so if it helps, its not likely that they're being malicious about it all.

On the macbooks vs macbook pros I'm with you. It was a very distinct difference between the two.. However, it is nice to see the Pro options in a 13" form factor (now if they'd only make a netbook)...

I came away from the keynote with the impression that Apple has decided that Microsoft is more vulnerable than they've ever been, and if they want to move beyond their niche market, they would have to move into Vista's space. The ultimate jump would be if Snow Leopard were available on whatever hardware you wanted.
I wondered how the core Apple users (no pun intended) would react to these moves. So, I don't know how this will play out. Depends a lot on Windows 7.
