Fast forward three years and I am finishing up my first year of University in Nursing school. The children I mentioned in previous posts are now 5 and 8 years old instead of 2 and 5 years. I have moved away from home and have spent the last 8 months with 5 other strangers I met on kijiji in an otherwise great house in a nice location.
I am seriously looking forward to the following things
People always assumed I lived in residence on campus. No. So where do I live then? In a house, off campus. Oh, with your friends? No, with people I never met until I moved in. But it has been an experience for sure - living with a roommate from Russia was neat.
I have started Irish dancing, which was a brief dream of mine when I was 12 and I'd like think I am better than I was 30 weeks ago the first night I went. This is the video that started it all - I think I use to watch it approximately 15 times a day and try to attempt some of these moves....

Let me tell you how my first Irish dance class went. I wore long pants, long sleeve shirt, hair down, and moccasins. Since I had no experience in Irish, I was learning the basics.... and when you learn the basics, you go slow. When you go slow, it is difficult because in Irish, you are on your toes 24/7. It was nothing short of a disaster as I was falling all over the place and trying to make sense of the apparent random sequence of steps to my tap dancer mind. That being said, I went back the next week and every other for the next 7 months. I love having my so called 'Comhaltas Crew' family who have welcomed me in so much with dance and my other friends/mentors from Nursing school, whether it be my fellow first years or RN "Real Nurses" who were finishing (are now finished?) their last year of the BScN. I love 'em all.
I am moving out tomorrow evening, being whisked away by my aunt and mamie in the van which will be packed solid. Although I am going to miss city life, I am seriously looking forward to the following things:
- Being ALLOWED to J-Walk, and Kitty Corner, and just plain walk down the middle of streets without fear of being run over
- Parking on the wrong side of the street and police not caring
- Pitching a tent on Spring Hill
- Playing on hay bales (Sorry Kaitlyn) and laying in the long grass on sunny days
- Etc and so on
I am hoping to continue playing piano at the restaurant in town, which has been newly renovated!! I loved spending Sunday mornings there and playing for people. I can't wait to spend the summers I love at home with family - it may be my last full summer at home.
