Let's say, hyptothetically, that one is not feeling in the mood to cook and decides to pop over to the local deep-country, middle-of-Pennsylvania-nowhere diner to get a dinner to-go (seeing as how, you know, we don't exactly have Applebee's out here in the cornfield). And let's further say that the waiting area for the diner's to-go orders is ( Read more... )

There isn't one of us who hasn't been faced with these situations. There is no pat answer to what I would do. But I do know that you did what you should do when the conflict becomes potentially physical. There is a difference between the awful pseudo religious and political rhetoric, and the veiled threats of strangers. They both come from the same place but the latter is much more dangerous ( ... )

Oh, you snugglepuss. I can always count on you for the voice of moral reason.

Was this, by any chance, the Old Country Buffet over by the Barnes and Noble and the Old Navy? My little adventure happened over at The Delta Diner in York County (near Whitford on the Mason Dixon Line, just across the Norman Wood Bridge), and the whole time I was leaving there I was like "God, York, serves me right for coming over here, the slime bags". Remind me to tell you how my mom called 911 the other day to report a brush fire she was seeing on the other side of the Susquehanna, and when she got on the horn with the call center even the Lancaster 911 operators were more or less like "York, huh? Just let the shithole burn".

By the way, did you know about this? That we fought a WAR with York County in the 18th Century? Maryland attempted to establish a colony over there, and I have to say--I more or less think the confederate bitches succeded.

The situation you were in there is a very very scary one, and I think that you did what you needed to do at the time. We have to choose our battles it this life, and telling off every mullet wearing redneck is not always the one to choose. I think the more important thing is that the community keep a presence in places like york rather than staying away. We can not let those assholes win, and as smarmy and repugnant as York may be, keeping a presence sends a message. And anytime you need someone to 'take out the trash' just call me up. Ill be there with my thigh highs and whip before you can say Xena warrior princess.

On a side note- there are some amoung us who were born and raised in the fine state of Maryland - so watch your Pensyltucky ass when you through around confederate. Need I remind you of John Harris???

Love you baby boy. Remeber, the fact that you are out takes courage enough and is a thorn in thier side everyday. And let me tell you honey, you are one sharp mutha of a thorn!

I forgot to address another side of this. Always do your damndest to avoid getting cornered also. But if you are ever cornered, do your damndest to kick their ass.

I do a very good scary here...LOL.

Do what I did when I lived there (before the escape) - turn around as ask them, "Why? You looking for a date or something?"

They're more afraid of you than you are of them.
