Help me find a song.

Jan 17, 2006 01:24

I have a distinct memory of hearing, at some point in my life, "Working on the Railroad" done by some big band, sung by some female singer(s) of the Peggy Lee / Andrews Sisters ilk. I haven't been able to find it at all, and I've searched and searched.

Am I trippin? Does anybody of sufficient vintage remember this at all? Can anybody find it for

Possibly Mitch Miller's version?

Most definitely not; that version has a male chorus and is lame. The version I'm thinking of swings like crazy.

I heard the Osmonds sing it before.

um, I mean I was told the Osmonds sang it... ;)

but the song has been performed by everyone from John Denver to Johnny Cash to Matchbox 20. It's especially popular with musicians namd John, or some derivative thereof.

(I also heard the Oakridge Boys sing it, in concert.)

Oh dear lord,..I'm olding,

I seem to remember one that has been played on KCEA by the Lennon Sisters.

I'm continuing to look and think about it. My Leo, ewhac is a KCEA listener, and I could have sworn I'd heard it played there, so I'm looking into that.

You may have seen this, but this is the one I found that comes closest to what you describe:
