That could have been so good.

Could've been? I'm not a good judge, to be sure, but it looked pretty cool to me. Certainly, there are other sites -- in Scotland -- in the same dialect, with news-of-the-day kinds of things. Seems a tiny bit like the PTB are trying to standardize the Lowland dialect, which strikes me as peculiar on the face of it since dialect is dialect and not given to standards, but even so... what's wrong with the site I linked to, in your opinion?

Well, given that it is my dialect, let me say that it came across in a very soulless way. It looked more like they were taking the piss than anything else, and I don't care how well researched it claims to be. I would say that there is an over accentuation in some of the phonetic style that is common in parody.
I hope that they simply used a bad translator program, and didn't actually put any more effort into this than that of the good old "cut and paste".

You know, I thought it looked more like parody than reality myself until I dug down a few layers. OTOH, it looks like the project to officialize the dialect failed within a couple of years of its inception, so, ironically enough, even this version of it is going the way of the dinosaurs.

Yipes, what a concept, you think there're translator programs for it?? Eeej.
