2x22

For the sake of making the last one of the season a Big Freakin' Deal, I wrote this review out old-school style: in a long, bloated narrative. The parts in bold are commentary (what would ordinarily be my bullet points), and the rest is re-cap. There is excessive use of victory arms (\o/) towards the end. fyi.

I just... I... I seriously can't even pick anything out. I will just nod wisely and say "Word!" to every single thing you said :D

Also: "Oh my. I'm shocked at this unforeseen turn of events" was probably one of the funniest lines on SPN to date. :D

That line will never die. It will turn into a staple, I guarantee it. :D

And, coming back to Firefly, I totally yelled "Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal" when Jake did it :D :D :D

LOL! firefly has the best lines! I love how "I'll be in my bunk" and "big damn heroes" and such will be around forever.

Best review ever.

Dude, I thought i was watching a film as well, specially when Dean got so aggravated and determined and went to see the kissing demon.
(And once again a thought of the YED and John French kissing popped in mind.

I want more John.

Merci!
John went off to live happily ever after, so I guess the only hope we have seeing him now is in flashbacks. :/

I could have done with 10% less snark, but I'm just being nitpicky. :p

The most awesome looking thing was when the YED died!

Amen and hallelujah to all of the above, and then some. Man, that was the best ep EVER. Dean and Bobby are killing me!! I just wanted their scenes to go on forever. I mean, no one's ever going to replace Dad (and I agree, chances are we're never gonna see him again in the flesh, but then again, with a show like this, you never know) but Bobby has just stepped into that father figure role with Dean, so much. When he confronted Dean about bringing Sammy back, he was just so gruff and pissed off and ready to smack some sense into him but he had tears in his eyes at the same time, so much emotion on his face, and you just felt how much he loves those boys and how many grey hairs he's probably gotten from worrying about them over the years.

I imagine he's probably bemoaning himself for leaving, unsupervised, a grieving kid who has enough knowledge to be dangerousI loved that line. Absolutely perfect. I really hope to see more of Bobby in season 3 ( ... )

See, I'm torn - sometimes, I want this show to take an epic feel, which means having more characters running around, but other times the intimacy of just the winchesters feels right, too. I guess if Kripke's using Star Wars as inspiration, maybe he should shoot for epic. For more Bobbys. (AND I DEMAND AN ANDY/ASH REPLACEMENT ASAP) Goodness knows the boys are going to need more, if the war is as big as they think it is. Hell, they're gonna need their own army.

I'm totally confuzzled as to why we had a new Crossroads Demon this time.
I loathed the old one, but compared to this one, I totally want her back. I don't get how the CB summoning thing works, either. If a different one came every time, Dean should have kept on summoning until he hit a more bearable deal. Crazy boy. :/

If he doesn't AT LEAST get an Emmy nomination out of this ep, there is no justice.Kim Manners NEVER got an Emmy in his whole run on XF. Emmys generally don't take stuff like sci-fi seriously (I think the only ( ... )

Hell, they're gonna need their own army.I'm actually the opposite. I prefer insular more than epic, because for every character running around, that's less screen time for Sam and Dean. *greed* I never liked Ash or Ellen (and my feelings about Jo are well-documented) so I wouldn't be sorry if they didn't come back. I'm mean ( ... )

That's so interesting about the saving count. I guess the difference is, it's not that Sam loves Dean any less than Dean loves him, but he's always been the baby, the special one, the one who must be protected. Whereas with Dean, it's always been his job, his duty, since he was a little boy it's been drummed into his head, protect Sammy. He says over and over again, "it's my job". So I think for him, the idea of Sam protecting him, it's strange and new and sort of hard for him to wrap his head around. I think deep down he really doesn't think he's worth it and no way is he going to get Sam get hurt to keep him from going to Hell ( ... )

He should have called a demonic auction, demon with the best offer gets to bang him for all eternity.

Whyyyyyyyy didn't Dean do that? I didn't really understand that, either-- how he says that other demons want him but then doesn't bother to seek them out? Does he really just not care about his life that much?

I agree with everything you said. THIS SHOW IS SO GOOD.

That boy needs therapy. Oh man, can you image Dean in a therapy session? Lol.

But yeah, I guess it was like he couldn't get Sam back fast enough. :(

I think you hit the nail right on the head. I was kind of wondering that too, but I guess since Sam had already been laid out for some indeterminate length of time and Dean wanted him back so badly, he took whatever he could get. There's not a doubt in my mind that he'd have let the CD take him right then and there if it meant Sammy's life. I just keep coming back to that moment in the scrapyard when Bobby just looked at Dean and said "Do you have such a low opinion of yourself?" (paraphrasing, cause I don't have it on disc yet to rewatch it), because he really nailed it you know? Dean really doesn't think his life is worth much, except in trade for Sam's. It's going to be a hell of a ride in season three, waiting to see how they manage to keep Dean alive.

You know, when Bobby asked him if he really had such a low opinion of himself, I was wondering if he really had such a high opinion on life in general, for whatever 50-70 years Sammy would get - if that's worth eternity in hell. It's not. Dean is one sick puppy.
