As long as the puzzles are of good quality, I don't see the harm of using a gimmicky theme to help structure the competition. Maybe it might come across as being less than serious to the wider world, but let's be honest, the wider world doesn't pay too much attention to these competitions anyway. I forgot to say you are the first inspire me in sudoku ( puzzle? Urghh..) and should be the only one. The first time I'm getting serious in sudoku after I discover the greatest one at that time and its u.. I like the confident u bring at that time. But its not I like u at all. Personally, maybe I'm just another opponent of you and its impossible for u to be dumbed by me right? I think its not really important for me to give my real name since u might already figure it. Lastly, good luck. May u get what you dreaming for.. Beat that melonmelon and japanase.. Hehehe.. Farfarawayfan
