First time in Las Vegas

May 23, 2006 10:37

Julie & Fish were going to be spending two weeks there and rented a house. We were invited to join them for a weekend so after a lot of figuring out, we made the journey.

Thanks to bruellaffe for watching the dogs and cat for the weekend, and thanks to sisterbean for letting the dogs out Friday afternoon.

Drat. I was going to call you two on Sunday to see if you were planning on staying longer since I had a free hotel pass for Sunday-Monday at Ballys.

Ah well. Yes, I like the pancakes at Blueberry Hill... although every time I've gone, they rush me out because they don't like to allocate a booth to one person.

That would have been nice, but it was more a matter of things to do back home getting in the way. I'm glad to see that you've survived your weekend too!

Hoche and I drove up Nevada from Laughlin to Reno. It was a bit longer, but there was nobody and NOTHING out there to stop you from pushing 130MPH on some stretches. I'm not saying that we did those speeds in a Van; towing a rallycar and parts, but we did see a couple of speed freaks on the road.

If you don't have an iPod chock-full-o songs, then I wouldn't recommend this route. We're talking Moonscape over there. Dullsville. Zip. Nada.

But count me in the next time you need a sitter. Maybe next time I'll use that wonderful espresso machine of yours.

Also, the drives were done (when possible) at the speed limit. I could have gone a lot faster but then I'd use a lot more gas. As it was, going both ways averaged 27.4mpg and it's rated at 26mpg for highway so I think it did ok.
