What I learned about dryer vents

If the dryer's heat is working but things aren't getting dry it's because exhaust air isn't working. I knew that already. That's bad because it can start fires, but that didn't happen here and I knew that too. The likely culprit was the flex hose (knew that) but amazingly there was very little in there ( Read more... )

I saw an external dryer vent that had a flap with a little magnet on it. When the dryer was running, the flap would open, but when off, the flap was closed.

That sounds like a good idea. I was also considering the plastic ones with the screen that could be removed for cleaning. I'll have to keep an eye out for the magnetic ones if this ends up being a home to small creatures.
