I am back from Virginia and undergoing the annoying graduate orientation week. I feel this entry is not going to be coherent...I'm just kind of writing out feelings and thoughts

Well, did you have that sort of a passion when you were undergrad freshman? I mean, something must have made you choose Comp E, right?
Also people getting married that early freaks me out. Although I like to annoy Ganesh with it, I'm not even seriously considering it until I reach my mid 20's.
Also, about the parents thing. Why do you think it's your responsibility to take care of them? You have other siblings. Obviously your older brother didn't think to stay with your parents and you still have a younger brother who will be there with them at least for a little while. Maybe sometimes, it's good to be selfish so you can grow up a little bit.
I know I have a lot more than so many people, so all this is just selfish whining, and so forth. Your problems are your own and they are significant in your life. Please don't belittle them by comparing them to others. There are always going to be people who are poorer, lonelier, etc. That doesn't mean your problems aren't important.
I would like to reiterate my recommendation that you see a counselor on campus. There is absolutely no obligation to go on medication. It just sounds like you're depressed and could benefit from some talk therapy.
I've noticed that others our age may seem to have their shit together, but they feel lost, too.
Oh, I went to a counselor. I'm not feeling depressed, though I guess it sounds that way. I was just feeling mellow/thoughtful and listening to appropriate music late at night, so the post probably reads pretty emoish. :p
I actually just finished a bunch of hiring paperwork for my GTA position this fall...now it's time to go sit through orientation, bleah.
But I think there's free food to follow!
