It was another day at the cafe and Jinki was lazing around. It wasn't the noon time rush yet and there was only a few customers scattered here and there. He was mindlessly wiping an already clean glass when a couple by the wall catches his eye. The boy looked very familiar. Jinki squints his eyes even though it was unnecessary and tries to remember. And then he got it. It was the boy whom he tripped with the broom last time but was too happy and proud of himself to properly say sorry. He laughs nervously to himself, and replays that day again. Halfway through, he gets interrupted by a slap on the table. Everyone is silent and they look over at the table near the wall. It's them. It's obvious they're bickering, their voices getting louder with each word. The boy stands up, fuming, and everyone jumps when he slaps the table again, cutting through the air like a knife. I hate you, Choi Minjung! the boy says and gets up, turning to leave. Minjung stands up, I hate you too! Stupid Kim Kibum, I hate you, I hate you, I hate you! (but they all know she didn't mean one single word of it) she sinks back down to her seat. Everybody's eyes follow the figure as it leaves the cafe. The bell rings and everyone turns back, replaying the whole scene in their heads, too scared to say anything and exchanging glances with their friends. Some look over at Minjung but is quickly slapped by their friends as if saying, Stop it, don't stare! Jinki looks over at her and can see the tears in her eyes, but what really scares him is that she doesn't cry, doesn't take her bag and leave, doesn't take it out on the people who are still staring. All she does is sit there and stare at the place that the boy sat just minutes ago.
The bell atop the door rings more frequently and people are flooding in. In between all the orders and polite smiles exchanged, Jinki's eyes keeps wandering back to Minjung, whose big, doe eyes are still lifeless and grey. The bell rings again and Jinki's about to welcome the customer but stops when he sees Kibum walk back in. Out of the corner of his eye, he sees Minjung's head lift up, her eyes filled with colour again, but no, she doesn't show it. Minjung puts on mask, her sad face of the last hour gone without a trace. Kibum walks up to the table, eyes softening up, Minjung, he whispers, I'm sorry. Jinki's lips curl up into a smile when he sees the mask on Minjung's face cracking. Minjung stands up and attacks Kibum into a bone crushing hug, mumbling apologies and I'm so stupid, I didn't mean any of that, you know, and millions of I love you and No, I love you more's are exchanged. One of the tables that were still here when the previous episode had happened started clapping and whooping, and so the rest joined in without fully realizing what on earth they were clapping for. Jinki smiles and claps too because he (and the rest of the cafe) had witnessed a love so strong and magnificent.
Jinki shudders when a breeze hits him when he opens the door to the back to take out the garbage. He's about to toss the bag of waste into the big bin when he hears hushed whispers and slurping noises. At first Jinki is scared out of his skin, thinking it was some scary pedo guy out to rape him or something or worse, aliens set out to suck people's brains out with colourful bendy straws, but he listens closely and realizes it's not aliens or crazy rapists. It's not my fault you keep going on and on about that Lee Onew guy, who you swear sparkles out SHINee glitters, having more junk in his pants than any other guy, I'm only human, Jinki hears, and figures it's Kibum's voice. Well, you gotta admit, it is. It's like HUUUUGE, another hushed voice whispers, but quickly adds on, But I love Kibummie the best. Jinki has this creepy smile on his face because he knows they're getting along just fine. But then he freezes again when he hears a zipper being unzipped and a breathy Minjung-ah, and he knows he should get going. So he throws the black bag into the bin and dashes through the door in under 3 seconds and is surprised he didn't screw it up. He sighs and rests his back against the door, blowing his bangs up with his breath and brings his hands to his cheeks dreamily because he knows he's all red.
The next day, a pretty stranger pops in. As she walks up, Jinki checks her out unconciously and concludes within a second that it should be illegal to be this breathtaking. Her pretty cheekbones and dashing brown orbs, her slender figure and exposed collar bone, her white head band adorning black hair curling just right at the shoulders and Jinki's ready for a heart-attack. She walks up to the counter and looks directly into Jinki's eyes and Jinki dies. Except not really. Because he dies again when she opens her mouth to speak. Excuse me, but can I get a job application? I saw the help wanted sign outside, she tops it off with a bedazzling smile and Jinki's stomach is taken over by thousands of butterflies. Oh y-yeah, okay, Jinki stutters like he's in grade 3 all over again and reaches under the counter to get the form. But instead he takes the special-of-the-day menu instead. He hands over the 'form' and hopes he doesn't look like a dumbass who has no idea what he's doing. The girl takes it and looks at it.
A small smile plays on her lips and Jinki's sent to heaven. Uh, I don't think this is the right thing, though the lattes look really good, she offers. And the smile is wiped right off of his face, replaced by a look of horror and IM SUCHA LOSER, OMFG ;___;. He ducks down, looks again, and finds the forms all the way on the other side. He mentally head-desks before coming back up, this time handing the right one to the goddess that blessed him with her mere presence (that's how Lee Jinki sees it). Thanks, I'm Kim Junghee by the way, and extends her hands for a handshake. Without thinking, Jinki thrusts his two hands forward, I'm Lee Jinni, I mean Jinki, and takes it like a palmreader would and all he can think of is, HER HANDS ARE SO FRIGGEN SOFT, SOFT SOFT SOFT, OMFG IDE, SO SOOOOOFT. Junghee blushes because she thinks he's adorable. But Jinki's little fantasy of him and her hands are shattered when Victoria, a co-worker, slaps Jinki on the back of his cute little head with a Yah! Lee Jinki! Go and hit that empty head of yours on the wall a few times before you come back. Jinki nods, still thinking of Junghee's hands. Victoria turns back to Junghee with a big sister smile and apologizes but Junghee's paying attention to a certain red-faced Lee Jinki who bumps his head against the doorframe of the restroom. Junghee hides her amused smile behind her hands.
