If nothing else, at least I'm consistent...

You know, it's funny. Here I am crying about what happened in New Orleans, and worrying about it and trying to decide when to go over and help... and to be honest, I was a bit mad at God. I BEGGED God not to let anyone die in that massive storm (lofty prayer, I know) and in my human eyes, He let me down. But He's so much bigger than that! And that' ( Read more... )

I think you have a reason to be upset... i mean... hes supposed to be all good and stuff... watching over us and all... and then he lets something like this happen... lets innocent people die... has thousands of homes destroyed... and prob most of those were nice/faithful people... he may be in "CONTROL"... but personally... i dont think hes doin a good job

all things happen for a reason - just because bad things happen doesn't mean that God isn't doing a "good job." what we don't understand is that all of God's plan is perfect - He alone is perfect, so who are we to judge? how can we say that He's doing his job "right" or "wrong" if we can't even comprehend everything that He knows and is in total control of. yeah, some people will die, but in the end, we will ALL die. it depends on what you do with your time on this earth that will determine where you go after you die.

See?! That's exactly how I felt at first! Angry! Confused! Let down! But then I realized taht HE'S GOD!!! And I can't even begin to fathom what His reasons are and how BIG and POWERFUL He is!!! And that's what excited me... That He knows exactly what He's doing... I don't even need to worry about ANY of those people, because HE MADE THEM and HE LOVES THEM more than I ever possibly could! And every once in a while, when you get some kind of minute GRASP on that, it... blows your mind.

court, i love and miss you like whoa. don't worry about the little - or even the really big things like silly old hurricanes - God is amazing and it all works out for His will in the end.
"Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." - Matthew 6:34

I know, baby girl. It feels like my own heart is breaking, just from what I hear and see on the News. But BOTh of us need to remember taht a) our prayers are heard, every last one of them, adn b) God is infinate and mighty, and His reasoning and His methods are beyond what we can EVER understand! It still hurts, but it helps to know that God is, without a shadow of a doubt, in charge of it all- adn knows what He's doing.

I'm sure they would love that... there's a church in the community called Castlerock Community Church that hosts a ministry called "Urban Impact," a reach out to the inner city and projects of New Orleans. I would reccomend sending it to them (I guess I'm bias, that's who I stayed with and worked with when I went to New Orleans on Missions). The other idea I had was when you take up that collection (tithe) in small groups on Sunday, for a couple Sundays take up a collection for New Orleans and have the teens use that as their tithe. They definitely need everything they can get over there... and I'm going to do disaster relief at some point, I'm just waiting for it to die down a bit. If anyone wants to do that (ok, not very many people, but some) just let me know. I don't know when or where- I still have details to work out.
