This is so beautiful. I think I'm going to make it my desktop image. Right now! And then it can remind me of you. Happy b-day, Skoony!

Have you ever heard of sand mandala's? the creation of one is done in a meditative state and is as much about the art as the experience of making it. They take weeks to make and are ritually destroyed and given as an offering. There are books that can tell you a million times more than I can, look into it.

I actually saw some monks making them once and you are right on. I think it's an art form relevant when thinking about the ritualization of art and meditation. With the mandalas the destruction is a very significant element. One that I am not sure I know how to work into my printmaking. Ideas? It may be the missing element that takes me to the next level. Not necessarily for my BFA show but in the future.

Also mandalas are often in circular designs. I don't know if that is an element that I would want to put into my work... maybe?

Thank you. I think I will look at the mandalas again.
