Glee Spoilers

So I was offline for a few days as my old laptop died but I got a macbook yesterday so all is good!!

A nice bunch of spoilers hit yesterday from the writers of Glee so as usual I need to comment, lol. It's me so yeah, it could be long!

I'll start with Will and Emma just for Amy, lol.

It looks like this little scandal that has hit John Stamos has the producers backing away from him as Carl the dentist. From memory, Brad Falchuk confirmed it was Stamos a few weeks back but Ryan Murphy is now saying he is just on a shortlist of potential actors.

This does not surprise me at all. I don't know the ins and outs of the case and whether Stamos is guilty of what his blackmailers are suggesting but the last thing Glee needs is any scandal associated with it (especially a scandal that relates to an underage girl) so it looks like they might be looking for a new actor for this role.

As for Will and Emma, well we always knew they were going to drag this one out, so it was a given there would be obstacles but the writers clearly see those two as endgame.

I am not sure what to think of still having Terri in the Will mix. Nothing the writers said suggest he would be contemplating returning to her (in fact Ryan Murphy told Matt that Will would be single for a while) but I think they need to not overplay her, although they do have her as a regular with a reduced amount of episodes.

Same with Mike O'Malley as Burt. I think his character is terrific but too much of the same thing with him and Kurt could become repetitive but I suspect the main reason he has been made a regular is to make sure he is available when they need him and another show doesn't grab him. Burt has proved his love for Kurt so move on and give him different stuff. I'm all up for Huddell family scenes with Burt, Kurt, Carole and Finn as I do think that will still be on, and of course with Finchel being a year long thing, we are bound to see Rachel hanging out at the Huddell home and I want to see what Burt and Carole make of her, and I mentioned before about the comedy gold of Kurt dealing with Rachel being a part of his life outside of school because of her relationship with Finn.

Even though like Matt I'm not that keen on a Britney Spears episode, if as Ryan Murphy has said they don't trot it out as a big "tribute" like they did with Madonna, and they give Heather Morris the chance to really show off her awesome dance moves, I will be on board with it.

So the Javier Bardem rumour turned out to be true (clearly Dante was out of the loop on that one) all the others are false. I am glad they really are sticking to their guns about not a lot of guest stars, and I really liked the comment Ryan Murphy made last week that everybody expects them to go bigger, but they are actually going smaller, and from other comments he made yesterday they seem to have really realised some of the missteps they made in the back nine and a returning more to the spirit of the first thirteen episodes.

Sue being her evil self, Quinn wanting to back to who she was before but with some baggage because what she has been through, and less songs so they can have more character moments.

This all makes me think that a lot of the concerns I had about season two have been put to rest. I am also really happy to hear that they are taking five or six more writers on staff in January. The three guys have done a great job so far but eventually it would take a toll and I also think they need some female voices in that writers room as well.

So on to my two favourite characters, Rachel and Finn.

So happy and so shocked that they will be together all season.  This is such an unusual move to make, not just for a high school show but also for two leads in any show. However I agree with why they are doing it. It would be too boring and predictable to have both Wemma and Finchel doing the "will they or won't they" for seasons on end, with break ups and make ups, and as Ryan Murphy has pointed out, Emma's OCD gives some really legitimate reasons why this adult relationship will have a rocky road.

I was also pleasantly surprised that RM didn't want Rachel and Finn jumping into bed anytime soon and his acknowledgement that this is a family show, particularly with the timeslot they now have but I also agree with RM that it wouldn't be in character for Rachel to go down that path too quickly. We already saw with Jesse she wasn't ready and I don't think that was just because he wasn't Finn.  Underneath all that bravura Rachel is a very vulnerable young girl.

I also think it will be interesting to see the ups and downs of them dealing with, as Brad Falchuk pointed out, her being high maintenance and him being low maintenance and having different interests outside of Glee. There is a lot of potential there and I am glad they decided to take this route rather than breaking them up again as I was expecting, that would get old very fast.

I do like that their "Like  a Virgins" lies will come back to haunt them and it will be interesting to see how Rachel reacts to that bit of news.

All up, pretty happy with what we are hearing so far. I suspect we heard more about Finchel and Wemma out of the writer's forum than about other cast members as it will be all the other cast who didn't go to Comic Con last year at Comic Con this year so most of the stuff out of there will be about the supporting young cast most likely.
