Mostly reflections on the cast as not much has happened yet.
Viserys is perfect. Not quite as vicious as in the book but that may come. His manners and voice are wonderfully arrogant and preoccupied and slightly mad. Danaerys might as well be a robot. I don't think her expression changed once. I'm going to blame the director for now and hope she gets a bit more interesting next episode.
Jaime and Tyrion also look fab, but I knew Peter Dinklage would be awesome and I'm going to try not to squee over Jaime too much. Do you think he's going to reap in fangirls Legolas-style? Or is he too disturbing with the twincest and attempted child murder? Probably fangirls. Sigh. It was nice while it lasted, you complicated antihero you.
Arya is a bit too cute but you can't really hold that against her. She has very expressive eyes & brows that convey her rascally side. Undecided about Jon Snow, but I don't really find him that interesting until he turns into Lord Commander Snow anyway. More excited to see baby Ghost! Bran seems quieter and more serious than I imagined him, but it still works, and they definitely get the message across that the only option for a boy is to grow up to be a strong warrior.
Costumes and sets look top-notch, unnecessary nudity but that's HBO. Cersei has really caught me off guard. The actress is playing her really soft-spoken with this long-suffering air toward Robert that makes her way more sympathetic so far. I'm sure her mean side will come out soon, but I'm really interested to see how she develops. Cersei is so extreme and later just so plain stupid in the books it was really hard not to despise her. She may yet win me over.
It's nice to feel like a fan again. At least it's something to fill in the five years or more that it will take GRRM to write the next book.
