The rest of the film program is pretty good. It's just this one teacher. Who is retired but still comes back to teach this one class. :| lucky me.

Sorry you're having issues with your professor. I guess the best advice I can give is grimmace and bear it. Then choose the best class with the most awesome prof to reward yourself next semester!

I like being late to the party!

When I get teachers like that (and really, you are going to get teachers like this if you're in any kind of artsy-fartsy major like Film or English Writing or Terrible Puritan Poetry) I just try to grit the old teeth and get what I can out of them. I'm definitely not going to want to subscribe to the guy's elitist cappuccino-swilling all-modern-movies-are-commercial-tripe-and-have-no-artistic-value philosophy, but I might be able to learn to appreciate older works more by listening to him.

Or I could argue loudly in class. That's always a viable option.

But either way, don't change your major just because you've got one irritating teacher! Nobody should be able to deter you from pursuing the things that you like! HARD WORK and GUTS etc etc etc, and so on.
