Kamikazie costuming Pt. 1

Pictures will be added once I get home, sry.

Right. So, here in Houston they are having a Star Trek Syphony on Thursday. I convinced my mother to get us tickets. The advertisements encourage you to wear sci-fi costumes, and so, of course, I need one.

First I was going to wear my Elizabeth costume. But I can't find pants, and I don't know how to make a jacket very well. So that got kicked out. Then I decided to make an acadamy outfit from NuTrek. But I really don't want to, its far to geeky for me to be comfortable (plus, I wanna stand out). So I finally decided on Amanda's green dress from NuTrek (thats Spock's mom, in the dress that she is wearing the last time you see her).

So I decided that the fabric was most likely a sari-type, and luckly JoAnnas carries some on sale. I watched the movie again last night, and it appears to be more like a wool in that. But I didn't have enough time/money for that, so sari it is!

This is the fabric I bought:

And this is the first mock-up I did last night:
The neck line-bit (figured out why its pulling, its a pull from the sleeve)
The sleeves in question (just tubes, serously. I hate drawing sleeves...)
The bottom skirt. I only have 4 yrds so I decided to sew on a strip as a fake skirt instead of a seperate skirt.
The back
i tried to pull one side into the seem, for the next one I'm not going to do that until later, when I'm wearing it.

I plan on wearing it over my awesome bra and elizabethian corset. The boobs are still not far enough out, but it will work. Remeber, I can only pick two: Cheep, Quick, or Perfect. I kinda had to give up on perfect for this one.

The sleeves pull it in all kinds of odd directions, and i hate making sleeves. Any suggestions? But the good thing is that at least it fits!
