Kamikaze Costuming Pt. 3

Hey look, finished pictures!

Ok, so I sewed the sleeves on and all of a sudden it didn't fit! I didn't know what was wrong, and just figured that it was the zipper getting stuck (Note to self: Don't used 20 yr old zippers. Just buy a new one) So I finished it, hemmed it and everything, but still couldn't get the thing to fit. Couldn't seem to figure out how it had worked on the mock up, but not on the real dress. So after fighting with the zipper for about an hour, I finally got my boyfriend to come over and help me. He couldn't get the damn thing up either, when I finally noticed that the underarm gores were taking up a LOT of fabric. As in, causing problems. So about five minutes before I needed to leave, I ripped them out, safety pinned the sleeves to the body, and tried one last time. It finally worked! So I picked up the siblings, met my mother, and sewed the sleeves on. Not even kidding, it was about 10 min before we reached the place that I finally finished it! Later on I entered the costume contest, that was decided to take place on stage during the concert! There were some amazing costumes, and they very much deserved to win! I think mine would have been better if I had been able to introduce myself, because I think it was not a very recognizable costume unless, like me, you were staring at the dresses! But its ok. I had fun, and the music was AMAZING! I wish I could hear it again, it was so wonderful!

Pictures!

My boyfriend dressed as Arthur Dent from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It was funny.

Close up:

The back (I still had to carry my purse):

You can actually see the corset working in this one. I really don't know quite how they managed to get the corsets so far out in the movie, but either her breasts are much larger or there is something else at work that I can't figure out...

On stage for the contest:

The awesome Vulcans. They and the guy next to me in red, in the original movie costume, were finalists.

All together now! The winner was still on stage at this time, so she's not here, but the rest of us were! I love the SG-1 girl and Starbuck, they were awesome. The vulcans were gorgeous too, and such work! They were fantastic!
