Happy Memorial Day

May 28, 2007 09:31

Today is a day to remember all veterans of foreign wars who have passed on. My father was a WWII vet, and I remember him every day, but today I will think about the contribution he and the other young men of his generation made not just to our country, but the world. They truly were "The Greatest Generation". I ask that everyone, regardless of ( Read more... )

Thank you so much, Scally! I'm pleased you like it. Thanks so much for checking out my LJ and leaving a comment. This is all kind of new to me still, and comments just give me quite a thrill. :)

Funny, but I haven't seen wallpapers for the Deal before. It's an amazing episode and Ray is just great in it.

I know what you mean. I still enjoy receiving comments and discuss things through LJ.

I love The Deal! I adore Ray, so The Deal is one of my all time favorite episodes. He was wonderful in it, so alpha. Hee.

I have a website for my due South wallpapers here Since I like The Deal so much, I've made several from that episode. If you'd like to see them, here are the direct urls to the other 2 I've done:

Deal 2

Deal 1

I have lots of walls, mostly episode related. I'm trying to work my way through all the episodes as time allows.

Thanks for friending me! I love this LJ thing. :)

I adore Ray too. The Deal is one of my favourite episodes, DM shines there.

Wow! I remember, I have seen your website, but I never took a closer look. I was looking for some particular information and just skipped it.
Your site is wonderful - so many nice wallpapers! I checked DM page - the first one is so cute! Now I'm having a good time, looking at other wallpapers.

I make DS collages myself, although I can't make pictures, using many graphics effects. But well, I'm learning. :-)

Thank you so much for your kind comments on my site and the wallpapers therein! I spend a lot of time on both, and kind comments are always appreciated. I hope that you find something (or a lot of somethings!) there that appeal to you. Take as much as you like! Hee.

I would love to see your collages. Do you have a website, or are they on your LJ? You have some very nice screen caps/pictures on your LJ. I looked at your LJ, but unfortunately I can't read it. I am a living embodiment of the old joke - someone who speaks three languages is trilingual, someone who speaks two is bilingual, and someone who speaks only one is an American. Hee. What graphics program do you use? I use Paint Shop Pro, which is an inexpensive, very powerful program that is quite easy to learn.

>Very nice! Which version are you using?

Thank you!
I'm using Corel paint Shop Pro X.

>A good one to start with would be PSP links.

Thanks for the link! I hope it will help me as well.

>That actually is quite easy. What you want to do is reduce your layer opacity. Would you like me to make you a mini tutorial with screen shots showing how to do that?

Oh, I'd love to! I think this effect is very beutiful, too bad, I can't do it. Your help with screen shots would be very useful!

>That is cool. I love dS in all its forms. Actually, although I do read F/V slash, I also read gen and pretty much all of my walls could be considered gen, as they are mostly episode related or just Ray.

I don't read slash stories, it's just not my cup (or cop :-D) of tea. However I know great authors who write both - slash and gen or het and I enjoy their stories very much.

>Great! When I have time, I can be very talkative, LOL.

So can I. ;-)

Cool, that's what I'm using too. Did that link I gave you work for you?

No problem. I set up a webpage for you. This is the url. PSP tutorials I kind of got carried away and did some other stuff as well as the image fade, LOL. I've had someone helping me learn LJ, and it's my joy to help you with PSP. I think the best way to honor someone who's shown you a kindness is to do kindness for others. Kinda like that movie, Pay it Forward. btw, I hope I didn't get too basic in that first tut (tutorial). It's hard to judge someone else's skill level, and I thought it better to be too basic than to assume too much. I hope I didn't insult your skills! I just remember when I started out, I didn't know ANYTHING! But based on what I've seen of your art, you already know a lot ( ... )

Great! I can make transparent images now!
Thank you very kindly for your help, your tut is so good and easy!

I practiced a little bit and I made this: http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/5627/frasertw3.jpg. tommorow I'll try to make a collage, using the new technique.

Yes, it's like a circle, it also reminds me of Pay it Forward. I remember, some months ago I taught some of my LJ friend how to work in Movie Maker. :-)

The link is working, so I'll, probably learn some moe effects.

Thank you so much again! :-*

Now, that is something I have never even tried to do. I love vids, but I haven't the vaguest idea of how to do it, and really, I don't want to try - I don't think I'd be very good at it, and the last thing I need is another fannish demand on my time! LOL. I think I'll stick to watching vids.
