Girls' Day Out

Oct 14, 2009 18:40

((Note: continues the next day from here))Fiona digs her keys out of her little hip bag as she walks down to Sheila's apartment to collect her for their appointment with the forger. Jane is discreet, professional, Fi thinks; she won't ask questions about Sheila's past or why she needs the papers, just as she didn't with Fiona's own replacement IDs ( Read more... )

Sheila's fairly close to the door, so it doesn't take long for her to answer Fi's knock. She's made herself as presentable as possible, which is a pretty phenomenal feat, considering the material she's had to work with, and is wearing a shirtdress improvised from one of Ash's oversized blue plaid cast-offs, tied with a leatherette belt trimmed and refashioned from one of Ash's. It's taken her an entire day to comb and set her hair, and it glistens in a ponytail anchored by a black tieback, fashioned from the leather sliced from the slimmed belt.

"Hello," she smiles, when she sees that her visitor is Fiona. "Are ye ready to depart?"

"Yep!" Fi announces cheerfully, stepping back to let Sheila lock her door. She doesn't blink much at the other woman's attire- she's beginning to get used to the outfits Sheila constructs. A thought occurs to her then- what if she doesn't have any clothes appropriate for her date with Ash?

Well. Only one way to fix that, then. Shopping trip.

Fi's eyes gleam as the idea solidifies. She links arms with Sheila and steers them towards the stairs, still not willing to risk the elevator again. "This shouldn't take too long- Jane's just going to get all the information down, and she'll let me know when all the documents are ready. Maybe afterwards we can grab a bite to eat, maybe do a little shopping? We've just got to get you something special for your date, of course." She grins enthusiastically, leaving little room for protest. "Something that'll really knock Ash on his ass..." she muses, as they head down to the street where her car is parked.

The outfit's a shade below what Sheila would consider modest - it comes down to the middle of her knee - but Fiona's skirt's a little bit shorter, so she figures she's following the prescedent set by this generation. It's not bad by half, in any case, for a third attempt at alteration - she now owns five outfits, two from Ash, two refashioned from her nun's habit, one from her shift and undertunic.

She's not counting the underwear that Ash bought (she swears to heaven) a size too small.

"Aye," she agrees, sounding a little bit nervous about the arrangement. Her eyes light up. "Oh, that sounds lovely - but I fear I lack the funds to pay my half of the bill." This concerns Sheila. She hates to be indebted to anyone.

"Twouldn't be the first time that occured," she murmurs. She's thinking of things in a more literal way (rock plus pit).

Fiona holds the lobby door for Sheila, motioning her through. She pauses on the sidewalk for a moment. "Oh, don't worry," she replies dismissively. "You can just owe me. Besides, it's not like you've had a chance to make any money, anyway. I mean, really. Ash should have done this for you weeks ago. What was he thinking?" She hits a button on her key fob, and a small silver Jetta across the street chirps.

Fiona grabs several outfits and kicks the dressing room door open, holding it for Sheila to follow her out. She drops the rejects off at the counter and grins at Sheila, who's carrying an armful of clothes herself and looking a little overwhelmed. "Okay, let's get these to the register!"

After lunch and a stop at the ice cream shop, Fiona had convinced Sheila to let her take her shopping for her date. They'd finally ended up at the S-Mart, which had a surprisingly large selection that Fi had deemed good enough.

Sheila still feels vaugely guilty about allowing Fiona to spend so much money on her, but she's truly grateful. "Ye're certain tisn't too much trouble?"

"Oh, no," Fiona says breezily, waving it off. A few of the things are hers, anyway, but she'd be doing this regardless. "Don't worry about it. I love shopping. And you need something nice and new for your big date with Ash." She glances at one of the dresses Sheila is holding and smiles. Ash should love that one, if he's got any sense in him.

Sheila smiles. "Aye, tis an enjoyable way to pass by the time. Tisn't at all like haggling in the market square, or waiting for Arthur to return from a sojurn with gifts."

She begins lying out the things they've bought on the conveyer belt at register nine. The one Sheila blushes at is the one Fiona approves of so much - it's black and knee-length, and makes her look elegant and long-limbed.

And it shows entirely too much bosom to be considered very proper.
