Majel Barrett Roddenberry, who was known for her roles as Nurse Chapel, Lwaxana Troi, and the voice of every Starfleet computer, has died at the age of 76 following a bout with leukemia.

I truly enjoyed her as Lwaxana Troi opposite an often ill-at-ease Picard.  She was wonderful comic relief, but could also play the dramatic role

It is indeed the end of an era. I can only imagine the memorials that will take place at next year's D*C.
