I am not going to try to change your views because this is an issue that is going to be debated back and forth until the end of time. I am also not going to even debate this with you because, once again, we would probably get no where fast. I am simply saying what I believe to be true. I don't hate homosexual people, I am not afraid of homosexual people and I look down upon homosexual people. However, I base what I know to be true based on God's design. I know you really are not into that sort of thing and what to base everything on fact, but in all honesty, the bible is the best factual based source I know. There has not been one flaw found in it and believe there will never be a flaw in it's original text. And in the bible it says in ( ... )

Thanks for your comment, I really enjoy getting into stuff like this. You're right, I don't really take the Bible serious enough for these issues, but I'll humor you. The fact is, it was written by men well after Jesus' death with political motives underlying much of what they wrote. Again, there is a "fear" here. It's the fear that if you let gay people get married then you are somehow not doing your Christian duty. I'm of the opinion that it is not a Christian's job to condemn and judge someone's sin; it's God's job. One question: so even if you believe that gay people are commiting a sin (which I'll admit I don't believe that they are), then why the need to make them unhappy? And the big question: what, if they are damned from the start, do you propose gay people should do?

I am curious as to what underlying political motives you thought they had. Also I don't see christianity as duty. I love, honor and respect God because of what he did for me. I am also not about to judge some one who is homosexual. God loves them as much as he loves me. It hurts him to see them turn their backs on him but he granted us free will and wont intefere with it. So what right do I have to judge them? I have messed up and I will mess up. All sin is equal in the eyes of God nd he will judge me by the same standard that I judge others. A to your first question, I am not on a rampage to make homosexuals unhappy. However, homosexuality is going against God's original design. I don't believe people are born gay, it is a choice they make. There is no scietntific proof either way so I wont say it as fact. So I am not trying to make them unhappy, but it breaks the heart of God. As for your second question, no one is, as you put it, damned from the start. Like i told you, I don't belive people are born gay and there is no proof that ( ... )

Okay, forget I ever said anything about the "underlying political motives," it is really not the point here. That's interesting that you believe homosexuality is a choice, because there is no scientific evidence to suggest it, although there IS evidence to suggest that it is not a choice. I think you are getting confused with the whole idea of nature versus nurture when you say gay people are not born gay. That may be so, no one knows for sure, but even if it's nurture and gay people were not born gay but became gay, it is still not something chosen because you don't choose how your environment affects you ( ... )

Here's the deal kids, I can debate this with you all day long, but neither of our opinions will be wavered. The fact of the matter is that God did not create us to live a homosexual life style and if you disbelieve this then you disbelieve the credibility of the Bible. How many times does God's Word have to say something before we believe it? And no, I don't believe the humunculus influenced the writing of the Bible because "All scripture is as God breathed" (1 Timothy 3:16) and I'm sure God knew how people were made, even way back then! He did make us afterall ( ... )

Lol...Michael, you're too funny. You know I always thought you were hilarious in Latin 1 and 2.

I'm glad you do not support discriminating gay people. I guess we'll just agree to disagree on whether or not gays should be allowed to marry. But it's true, I don't really take the Bible all that seriously (maybe one day) so if you're a conservative christian, by all means, don't listen to me!

As you can tell, I had to get the last word in on all the arguments. :-) So don't mess it up because we'll start arguing in circles.

I'll doing well. I'm at Berry College (ironically very conservative in many aspects) majoring in education. How are you?

I'm doing well! I went up to Berry College last semester because my ex lady friends goes there. (Cristina Targa - maybe you know her?) Gorgeous campus! I'm a big fan.

You certainly are correct that I don't support discriminating gay people. That is a rediculous concept that goes against everything that Christ lived for! I suppose that's a little pet peeve of mine... heh heh

In all honesty, I don't really see myself as a terribly conservative Christian, simply one who seeks to find all the truths written in the Bible. I really don't wanna force my ideas on people, and I don't really debate all that often. Simply wanted ya' folks to see from a different perspective. And I appologize if I came across as terribly rude; it's for reasons like that that I don't debate much, I can really get into it!

As for life for me, at this point I'm attending Toccoa Falls (Bible) College in northern Georgia majoring in Counseling. Don't really know what I'm gonna do with the rest of my life, but we'll see! Where do you plan to go after school?

Oh man, I love the campus! I don't know Christina, but I've run into her before while hanging out with Joe and Kylee. She even referred to herself as "Michael's ex," like everyone is supposed to know you or something.

Believe me, I'm glad for your intelligence of the Bible. To me, a stupid person with the same arguments as I have is less credible than a smart person (you) with a different argument.

You did not seem terribly rude -- I get the same way. I think I offend people when I argue because I get so emotional and they take it personally, but it's the "argument" I'm attacking!

After school I have no idea where I'll be. I would like to teach middle school english or social studies by day, and help out a high school marching band by night. Honestly, I've been switching majors all year, sometimes wanting to teach music, sometimes not. So, even though I like what I'm doing at the moment, it's a possibility that it will change -- based on previous experience.

Some high-school thinking. anonymous April 26 2005, 21:26:03 UTC
In a page of comments made by college kids 2-5 years older than me, I do not expect mine to make any big difference. However, seeing as how I have strong feelings on the issue, I feel it necessary to give my thoughts on the subject, no matter how little consequence they may amount to ( ... )

Eloquently written. I appreciate the time you spent in writing your comment. You are right in every way regarding the separation of church and state. I loved that you brought up the minority thing. I have not looked at it from that point of view, and I believe that it is harder for minorities of any kind to stand up and have a voice of their own. I hate that there was a vote in the last election to decide whether or not homosexual marriages should be specifically banned in the state constitions. Since when does a majority opinion make it a valid opinion? I have read that the majority of Americans were against giving black people equal rights in the sixties, and had Americans voted on those issues, the segregation would have been prolonged. Thanks again for bringing that idea to the table.

And may your tower, which IS so dark, be lit as the brightest of all good days are lit! And, thus, ye shall henceforth be called, LightTower!
