i've alwasy hated Johnny Damon but could never figure out why. i needed a paticular event or comment from him to explain my inner firery rage towards him and you just tossed in a can of gasoline. thank you.
due respect, but i don't think that's the crux of the article. damon concedes that he'll take a shorter contract to stay with the red sox -- four years, which if he's resigned, i think is a reasonable time frame for him (5-6 years is ludicrous) but i'm not sure if he's worth the money/contract

Perhaps it was my heroin induced rage trip that caused me to possibly overreact. But it seems to me that to say comments like that, during a stretch where the team needs to be more in the moment than ever, those comments, while probably coaxed out by a reporter should be left for a time when the team isn't trying to win a pennant. I understand its something he has to consider as in next year's contract, but I use Derek Lowe as an example. I thoroughly believe that not having a contract last year really bothered this guy. Enough to go 10-10 with a 967.85 ERA. But the difference between Lowe and Damon is that when asked about his contract it was "We'll see what the team brings" or "We're in the middle of a pennant race, we'll worry about these things when the time comes". I'm not crazy about Johnny Damon's comments as it feels like he's almost looking forward to jumping ship. 5-6 years? Ridiculous.
