8. Everest--Good, and so glad I did not see it in the theater. Strikingly filmed, and some interesting choices made, dramatically. It made me wish (again) the Tom Hardy-as-Mallory film didn't appear to be dead in the water.

We'd initially intended to spend extra time in Edinburgh on the trip, but decided that we had more specific stuff we wanted to do on Hadrian's Wall than in Edinburgh, so extended our stay in Carlisle instead. I can't say I regret it--it meant we got to spend most of the day at Vindolanda rather than be crushed for time, and I wouldn't have missed it for the world. We're thinking that next time we go to the UK, we'll schedule Edinburgh for the beginning/middle of the trip, rather than the end where we're dragging, too. :-)
Unfortunately, this was also post-camera-giving-up-the-ghost, so all I had was my cell phone, and very few of those photos worked. It's a gorgeous monument, though.

It was a fabulous time. We're planning the next trip to Ireland to be ONLY Ireland for two weeks to hit more piles of rocks. :-)
My cell phone did take some good photos. The low light levels (it was nearing dusk and overcast), though, meant I couldn't get a lot of good photos of a number of the other cool statues and buildings along that promenade.
