Movie update:

That's interesting. It appears to be a mixture of unsheared and recently-but-not-immediately-sheared sheep. Freshly sheared sheep usually look pinker and a bit scruffier, because shearing is never perfectly even. I can't tell what breed it is, but it looks like one of the longer wool sorts. If the ears stood up more I'd be guessing Border Leicester; I recently saw a drawing of just the head of one, and on first glance I mistook it for a rabbit.

feochadn and I did have a discussion about how they looked different than most US sheep (and that lambing season seems to be different, since we were there in late April/early May and we saw very young lambs everywhere). We also were wondering about how some of them looked like they still hadn't been shorn, which seemed really late in the season for them not to have been.

Some shepherds shear the rams and wethers at different times than the ewes; if you were seeing lambs, maybe that's what was going on here.
