sometimes it seems that my work catches up to me. i sometimes feel an unbearable sadness when i'm at work - the depressing humanity is almost too much to bear. what people do to each other and to themselves gets to you when you let it. we develop a tough skin here but some days you can't help but feel. and when you feel what you're doing, it's all ( Read more... )

I can't imagine doing what you do. I don't have to tell you that what you're doing is amazing and such a good work, but your strength can only go so far on days like that. Big props to you and all the rest of the people who take care of everyone day to day!

i'm a 911 dispatcher - have been for the last 13 1/2 years. i love doing what i do but sometimes it just gets the best of me. yesterday was just a totally crappy day!

I can't imagine the crap you must have to put up with. :( The one time I had to call 9/11 the sheriff that showed up was a dick - but the dispatcher was so calm and amazing. Kept the situation from being totally devastating. I mean I'm sure she was just doing her job, but she just went with the flow and it meant everything. I imagine you have made the difference in several people's lives!
