Oh man.. Now THERE is a memory that comes flooding back.. all the networks were from Bangor when I was a kid and the first time I ever saw Tron was there (don't ask why I have that memory.. the weird stuff sticks with you sometimes)

I'll never understand why they took our channels away from Maine and thought somehow that DETROIT would have been a better feed.. Only, after 10+ years taking THAT away and giving us Boston because "Its a more similar culture"

Hey Tarpo! Long time, no hear!

As for why the switched from Maine to Detroit, it was because the Maine channels needed to upgrade from microwave transmission to satellite, and they didn't have the cash to do it, and the cable companies here wanted channels that ran 24 hours, which the Maine stations also did not do.

As for switching from Detroit to Boston, I remember at the time there were a lot of complaints about how violent the news was out of Detroit, and a lot of subscribers found it rather disturbing. But there was also the theory that Boston was closer to the Atlantic Provinces in some ways, which is why it was chosen as an alternative.

Man I wish I'd taped some Stacy's Country Jamboree before they switched though...

I just remember my late uncle referring to the countless musicians that would share the stage as being a "forest of guitars."
