New Hobby
Yesterday I found a new hobby - snorkeling!
I am scared of going out of my depth and Ian's been trying to help me with this. First of all we started with kayaking and canoeing, and I'm ok with this most of the time, as long as I don't fall out of the boat, then I panic.
So he decided to try me with snorkling, as he's recently become a snorkel instructor. I wasn't too sure about this, but we got some snorkel kits from Lidl (£15, they're actually really good for the price) and it was quite nice yesterday, so we went for a swim.
We used the lake that Ian works on, it's an old gravel pit, so there are shallows, and then it drops down steeply. I was ok in the shallows, but as soon as I went out I panicked and had to swim back in. But I tried again, holding Ian's hand, and got over the panicky feeling quite quickly, as long as I was in contact with Ian. We had a swim around, saw a massive Pike, a crayfish and lots of perch. I thought it would be quite hard on my legs, but it wasn't that tiring at all. We didn't take the camera though, so I can't show any photos :(
Ian's working today, but if it's still nice when he finishes we might go out again, and hopefully with a camera this time, I might even swim over to the sunken car!
