I haven't gone to any "bad" websites, I haven't downloaded anything in atleast a week. I got up this morning and I had one call bsoqtc.ext or something. I couldn't delete it, I couldn't quarentine it. I ( Read more... )

It depends on what the spyware detector is actually finding. If it's just cookies, that's usually just the remnant of various ad sites. There's nothing you can really do about those other than block cookies.

If we're talking about full-fledged spyware programs, Firefox won't install things via ActiveX controls, and as far as I know, it doesn't have any other way to install software without your knowing. Other sources of spyware can be anything that uses IE, or anything else that displays ads. This could be things like instant messengers or such.

There could be something I'm missing, of course. The cold, hard fact of the matter is that if you're running Windows and use the internet, you're probably going to end up with spyware no matter what you do. You could look at the Microsoft anti-spyware beta, too. It seems useful, but I don't really know how it compares to Ad-aware and Spybot.

Also, if these are more than just spyware, and more virus type things, make sure you've installed all the latest patches, or else you will be exploited, unfortunately. The effects are usually weird programs appearing on your computer.

I keep getting Trojans as well and I have no idea from where. I Googled for one and some site said to try Kerpersky. It actually picked up and cleaned up a lot of Trojans, but the problem was that it wouldn't allow me to use IE and I need it to submit my coursework because Mozilla hadn't been validated to use on their program. So I keep downloading it, running the scan and then removing it again. You should give it a try since you're not using IE.

Hey, if you were PERFECT at a new job right from day one, then they'd probably have to promote you to Boss or something. To err is human, and all that. It's good that you're noticing and acknowledging your mistakes, but don't get too hung up on it. You'll be doing fine again in no time. They gave you the job for a reason, after all, and that reason is: because you're good enough.
