Morning at Mosquito HQ

Apr 29, 2004 04:40

Moz knew it was late from the sun coming in the window. It didn't matter, there was little enough to do lately. Though the meeting of the Tribal Leaders had gone better than she'd honestly expected, it still left alot in the dark. They'd move the hospital, after the Colour Wars were under control. IF they got the Colour Wars under control. She ( Read more... )

Jade had been out talking to people all morning. She had spent most of the week making sure most of the other tribes felt the same way the Mozzies did about how much control the Mallrats had over the city. She tugged at the waist of her black catsuit. Today was her first day in Mozzie clothes and they felt a bit tight around the middle. Jade's stumach was hard to hide now a days, but she had no idea how to tell Moz and the others about her 'condition'. What if she got kicked out of her new tribe because of it. Jade put the thought out of her head as she walked back into the Mosqito's headquarters.

Moz glanced over as Jade entered. She'd been out and about already that morning it seemed. They'd all been investigating the standing the Mallrats had with the city. And though Salene still seemed to have the city's support, there was the beginning of grumblings over the Mallrats' involvement with so much of the city's runnings.

"Morning." She greeted Jade, and saw Terri stir. She'd reapplied her makeup, and she turned back to pull her mask on. Jade seemed to fit in with the Mosquitos, but something was holding her back. She was nervous, and Moz shook her head as she stood to glance around.

Terri had dragged herself from her bed, and paused to fix her hair in a mirror. She glanced at Jade, shaking her head. "In town already? What's going on out there? Besides the usual."

Jade shrugged her shoulders. "I heard a few kids laughing about how they got that sheriff.....you know....Lex. They got him in the back with a T-gun last week." Jade thought for a second tugging at her catsuit a bit. "You know, they didn't seem to care who heard them. Almost like they were hoping someone would over hear them."

"Why would they want someone to hear them?" Terri asked, frowning.

"Trouble's been brewing for awhile." Moz reminded her. "I wonder if they're part of whoever's behind it..." She trailed off thoughtfully as Terri headed into the kitchen. "People aren't happy with the way things are right now. They want to blame someone, and the Mallrats are running things. If you want to recruit someone into something, why not brag about something like shooting Lex? He's an easy scapegoat."

"Or they could just be idiots. Word gets around, and they'll get themselves locked up." Kay's voice came muffled from the bed. "Can't a girl sleep late around here?"

Moz rolled her eyes.
