Zero was sitting on the couch at her parents' house when her phone started ringing. She'd arrived for Thanksgiving and then not left again, not after everyone stared blankly at her when she asked where the Shis were...and then Arsenal disappeared. Followed by Twitch.
She answered the phone with, "Something is really really squalling wrong. Hi."
"No," Zero told her, "I can't leave. What's the point? Half my family's gone already, and it's just...I tried calling Peter yesterday, an' his number don't work. An' Arsenal an' Twitch an'...squall. The worst part is they don't even remember. So. I hafta stay. To remember for them." It made sense in her head.
After getting off the phone with Zero, Parker really needed good news. She took a deep breath, voice firm. "Please tell me you're on your way to Fandom."
"Got here today," Anders confirmed; his voice was a little flat, but it'd been a hell of a past few days. "I get out of getting smacked in the head for that, I hope. Assuming you're on your way."
"Good. And yes, you do." Parker closed her eyes. "I'm in somewhere that looks like someone picked up the world and torqued it at right angles to itself. Makes my head hurt. They say three more stops before Fandom."

So there was Parker's phone, ringing, and on the other end of the line Anders was drumming his fingers restlessly against his own phone.

Probably so Trick would get there before she did.
