"Thanks." D gave a small smile that didn't go much further. "Invisible almost I think? I'm just trying to get this damn mask to stay on."

"Gotcha." Parker retrieved some clear plastic hairpins, and carefully adjusted the mask on D's face. "Is Krycek meeting you there? He should get the full effect at once."

"Heh." D snorted without mirth. "No. No, I don't think he'll be meeting me for anything at all actually."

It hadn't yet occurred to her that she could not answer the question or lie. She might regret that later, but for the moment she didn't care.

"D?" Parker finished fastening the mask, then stared into her eyes. "Are you okay?"

"No, but I'm not ruining my make-up. Plan is to knock'em dead and fall to pieces later." D put on a brave face and smiled enough though they both knew it was fake, it would help keep the mascara in place.

She took a deep, calming breath. "So, tell me. I know why I'm in my stocking-feet, why are you?"

Parker nodded, letting it go, since she completely understood that point of view. "I'm in stocking feet because I have three shoe choices and I'm *still* not sure what to go with." She held up a black slingback, a silvery sandal, and then pointed her toe at a pair of CFMP's. "Help?"

"No to the black for sure." D said seriously. "I like the silver sandals, but it's going to depend on what kind of statement you want to make and to whom you want to make it."

"I want the statement to be 'I am just fine and I'm enjoying myself, ha'." Parker looked at the silver sandals, then the black pumps. "The pumps aren't too much? They're the highest I've got... they'd make me feel better."

"Then the pumps, no question." D understood that much. "Besides, it'll make them more satisfactory to kick off later."

"True enough," Parker decided. "Thanks, D." She cocked her head, then said, "I'm meeting up with Anders outside in a bit-- you want to walk in with us?"

"Welcome. It's all about the accessories." She smiled then D's shoulders relaxed from tension she hadn't realized was there, "yeah, that would be... nice, actually. Thank you."

"No problema. Give me three minutes, and I'll get the shoes on and the earrings dangling." Parker was as good as her word, then applied a last swipe of crimson lipstick. "And we're dressed to kill and thrill."
