Phelps issues apology....

Feb 01, 2009 12:29

I'm going to post the AP report here, but I will still not permit the News of the World article due to the amount of hearsay included in the body of thge report. Seeeing how Phelps has just issued a statement adknowledging he was smoking marijuana @ USC on Nov 6th, this consists of legitimate news and I'd be doing a disservice to the community in ( Read more... )

If it had been with his old circle of friends, at a party that was in his hometown, I don't know if I'd feel as disappointed as I do now. I'm not sure that any pics or news of this kind of activity would have even been made public if he was just hanging out with his old crowd.

The fact that it was at a party, surrounded by strangers, that really don't care about him obviously by selling him out, is what really really concerns me. Its an indication that he is or was on a dangerous path. People like the one taking this pic, could lead to much dangerous situations. Real harm could come to MP if he continues to surround himself with scum like this.

I'm honestly not that surprised about it. And it doesn't bother me. It could have been a lot worse I think.

I think he was just really stupid and careless. He needs to learn to think certain things through. He probably thinks he's pretty invinsible, and he's not.

TRUFAX!!!!!

I agree with pretty much everything you just said...almost. I mean, the fact that he smokes pot bothers me a little bit simply because he's got such small kids looking up to him (not to mention that I had a lot of family drama dealing with drugs).

But stupid and careless...YES. I totally think he thinks he's 100% invincible...and he ain't. He's actually anything but invincible with all the eyes on him.

What...a...moron.

try again, bb, try again.
you won't domesticate the fierce media machine with "sorry-i-am-still-a-kid" or "i-promise-i'll-stop-and-do-as-you-please-dear-crowd-for-i-am-your-humble-servant" peanuts anymore.

why not cutting the crap and brand your own truth for a change?
you generously offered your foolishness and your grace to the public, now show your best 60-minute yawn and beautifully manucured middle finger to the system!

I just hope they won't ban him for two years. If they do that, I have a bad feeling he'll quit swimming.

they will have to take action.
olympics in '92 and '96 were a nightmare. thorpe who was a key element in fina resurrection, has also been caught up in a scandal. that's too much.

honest, i don't see bb quitting as a bad thing. his body needs detox from a lot of things... training too. he needs refilling batteries to reinvent.

I should ask myself why I care so much. Probably we all need to believe in heroes. I've always admired his work ethics and self-control in pool. His private stuff never interested me in the way his swimming career did. I knew he's a smoker (I mean tobacco) but never would I imagine this. I admit I died a little when I saw this story.

I really need to get a life.

In response the the widely circulated tabloid photo of Michael Phelps inhaling from what appears to be a marijuana pipe, the USOC and USA Swimming each released a statement ( ... )

Not as bad as I thought those statements would be.

I agree. I hope FINA and IOC will second. Damage control to the max.

I think they're holding back for right now. I highly doubt they'll let him get away scar-free.

At least I hope they don't...
