This came though my Google alerts....I appreciate Kutcher's candidness.

I liked this one:

North Kingstown High School swimmer Elizabeth Beisel, a 2008 Olympics teammate of Michael Phelps, said he is still her "role model" despite the publication of a photo showing him inhaling from a marijuana pipe.

Beisel, 15, commenting during a break in a swim meet between North Kingstown and Mount St. Charles Academy, at the Community College of Rhode Island on Monday, referred to speculation that the photo could cost Phelps millions of dollars in lucrative endorsements.

That, she said, could be "the price he has to pay for that picture."

Good for her. I'm glad that a good majority of people are supporting Phelps like this, and being understanding of the fact that he made a dumb mistake, just like everyone else does.

Octagon, on the other hand...*grrrrrrrrr*........

I don't think any of us are right now. Phelps is the one getting the hits, but his agency fucked up even bigger than he did. And hardly anyone is talking about their actions. That pisses me off.

From this article:

It's too early to say what impact the incident will have on Phelps' endorsement deals in China. Dan Mintz, founder and chief executive of DMG, a Beijing-based advertisingand public relations agency that brokered Phelps' endorsement deal with Mazda, says that Mazda is standing by Phelps despite this "particular youthful incident."

Not gonna lie, I'm surprised by how many people aren't upset at Phelps but realize it was just a lapse in judgment that anyone can make. Maybe I was clouded by my fangirl opinion, thinking everyone else would tear him to shreds. I'm glad to hear I'm wrong.

I know a lot of people are in the "it's just pot" category...I'm not. I've never done drugs, never intend to. I know what it does to people and I can't act like it's OK. In my world, it's not. I'm not angry that he chose to smoke pot, that's his deal. What pisses me off is that MP chose to do it at an unfamiliar house party with unfamiliar people. Bad idea, especially if you're the most famous athlete on earth. His choices are his, and he needs to stand up to them and OWN them.

By no means do I approve of his behavior and I'm not even touching the excuse "it's just pot". It's illegal. Plain and simple. I don't like that people are shrugging it off with that excuse, but everyone's entitled to to their own opinion. But I am glad that more people are forgiving him and not hating him for the screw up.

Sorry, that kind of went OT and I ended up venting a little...LOL

I actually wouldn't have a problem with him talking to kids about this incident, over the next year or so. Not an onslaught of appearances though, that to me would appear insincere.

Me either...especially if he genuinely wants to keep his ties with the Girls & Boys Club.

I think that Speedo will renew with him, but I'm doubtful on Subway. Speedo still stuck with him after the DUI arrest, but I'm sure they'll be keeping a close eye on him for the rest of the year.

Oh, no doubt that Speedo will keep him, but I think that instead of getting a new contract worth maybe 3X as much as the old one, he'll be lucky to get one that's worth more than the one he already has.
