So I was invited to this Southwest Airlines "Spirit Party" last night.... I didn't realize what it was until I got there. This is a party that SWA throws 4 times a year at various places around the country, and it's for their staff. My mother came home on Saturday, 15 April, in the afternoon. She's doing remarkably well, and much better since leaving the hospital, I might add. She's walking a few times every day, and she's allowed to do anything she could do before, with the exception of lifting and driving ( Read more... )

My mother, I'm told, is recovering quite well; she's off the respirator now, and they had her sitting up in a chair this morning.

Things are looking good!

My mother is again pumping her own blood, everything went well.... Her atrial fibrillation has ceased for now, but they say that often the procedure for that will work for a few days, then it will start fibrillating again. So, we'll have to wait and see on that one.

The doctor is very happy with how it turned out.

I just got another phone call from the waiting room: they've finished the procedure, they were able to repair the valve, so she didn't need a pig valve installed. They did the MAZE procedure (for atrial fibrillation) and now they're going to get her heart beating again and close her back up. They should be done in about 45 minutes or so, and say ( Read more... )
