this weekend my mom walked 60k in the 'walk to end breast cancer.  she walked with about 5000 other people, all of whom helped to raise over $15 million for breast cancer research at princess margaret hospital.  as a survivor, my mom, along with 8 other women, was selected to lead the group of walkers out of the starting aread on saturday morning ( Read more... )

this year the film festival kicked off with frances and i going to see 'ghost in the shell 2: innocence' at ryerson theatre.  we headed downtown after classes and got to the theatre a few hours early (the movie screened at midnight as part of the festival's 'midnight madness' program) to see when the rush line would start to form.  when we got ( Read more... )

university year 2/week 1 went pretty well. one of my film teachers gives off the startling impression that he is just a few weeks out of drug rehab for a serious heroin and/or cocaine and/or raw opium addiction. he's still cool though. lots of gassi-esque humour.
