If this is your earth-shaking news, I find much Irony. I was just at Batman Begins. I didn't find it all that horrible, it was worth the ten bucks to waste 2 and a half hours. You must remember that Batman begins is A SUMMER MOVIE. Thats all its for. "It is instead an attempt to reignite a major commercial movie franchise through marketing, merchandising and strategic media management." If you didn't realize that in the first place then you are very thick. "By taking narrative cues and glum spirituality sermons from the Star Wars franchise and The Matrix sequels, and by wrapping everything old up in shiny new plastic packaging, Batman Begins may well do everything - and really all - it wants to do" Isn't that really how EVERY new movie is these days. I mean, that is essientaly the Hero's Journey. I guess it all boils down to Gilgemesh. Also, Harry Potter= Star Wars= Batman= Spiderman=Independance Day= Almost everything else. Well, I wouldn't call myself thick, as I didn't write the review, but you missed its main points.
Yes, marketing/originality shouldnt alter one's enjoyment factor of a summer movie, but IT SUCKED AT ENTERTAINING! YOU CALL THAT BORING SHIT ENTERTAINING????
GRanted, the tumbler scenes were good, and I liked seeing a few reputable actors, but THEY WERE ALL WASTED. IT TOOK AN HOUR TO GET STARTED, WAS WAAAAY CONFUSING WITH THE WHOLE ASIAN GUY THING, HAD NO STRONG VILLIANS, AND HAD THE SAMMMMME BORING SOUND BYTE DIALOGUE THE ENTIRE WAY THROUGH.
And in terms of action - it was all filmed with extreme close-ups where you couldnt see anything, and quick-edoted beyond belief.
THe train scene was better than the rest of the movie, but compared to other action movies, it was weak. I long for Star Wars 3, a far superior movie.
I think the fact you enjoyed it is a testament to the success of the film's marketing strategy.
See, I am weird like that, I don't really like action movies, so the first hour of back-story was the best part in my opinion. The mask thing was pretty awsome also, and the horse that shot fire.
