I'm bored so I will review some stuff I checked out recently.
Batman Arkham Asylum: Not only the best game based on a comic ever, but possibly the best game of the year. It's dark and brooding and full of the character of the comic. The voice work from the actual voices from Batman the Animated series is phenomenal. The story isn't full of pointless plot twists or forced romance, it's straight forward and fun. This game makes you feel like batman.
Rock Revolution: Terrible, just the worst knock off of Guitar Hero and Rock Band, but hey it only cost me $1.25
Ghostbusters: So much fun. All the actors portray their characters and the likenesses are fairly good. The story is full of pointless plot twists and a forced romance but you get to be a Ghostbuster and who doesn't want that? Dan Akroyd really enjoys it and gives it his all but Bill Murray phones it in. And why isn't Rick Moranis in it? Does he seriously have more important things to do? Also having the actual film score is a bonus.
Gears of War 2: Cookie-cutter game made purely for profit's sake, but as polished as you can get, fun, gorgeous graphics, and gory.
Prince of Persia: Beautiful art style, looks like a moving painting. Fun quest game full of lots to do and places to explore. Combat could've been better and the voice work is a little lame and the story convoluted.
Dead Space: Survival Horror in space. Not original, not engrossing characters, but fair graphics and long play time. Replay value is high due to all the items and it's fun to dismember the monsters.
Shadow Conspiracy: Xbox Live arcade game. Cheap. AWESOME! I would've paid a lot more for this, it is crazy fun. Based on an Orson Scott Card book I suppose but story is so not important, this is old school nintendo side-scrolling goodness with great 3D graphics. Takes the best elements of games like Metroid and Bionic Commando and Contra. If you are on Xbox live stop reading this and download it.
Secret of Monkey Island: Another XBOX Live arcade game. This is a remake of the old pc game with all new graphics but everything else the same. Fun passive gameplay and the humor holds up surprisingly well. Good voice work too. You can also switch between the remastered version and the original on the fly.
