Democracy has always been in danger from the insanity of the mob. That's why we've got a republic and limited democracy. It's practically impossible to keep the majority of people educated and interested. But then there's always a few people raising points and battling the injustice inherent.

But who cares? I wish the President of our nation was a pirate.

Reality television brought out the public's lust for bickering and yelling, I think. It was the one part of those shows that people really got intrigued by. It's why survivor got so successful, because of the swindling politics and makeshift alliances involved. I agree it's all entertainment, but it's also a fad that will eventually go away. One thing to really count-on with America is that we get bored easily with the same shit and end up rejecting anything that resembles the old way. It just takes time for the public to stop buying in, maybe it even takes another generation. It could be just part of a cycle, haven't people always started acting crazy, religious and thinking it's the end of the world around the turning of centuries and millinia.
